Land use and land cover change dynamics of Uzbekistan: a review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Land use and land cover change (LULCC) is a dynamic process that shapes landscapes, ecosystems, human societies. In the context of Uzbekistan, country in Central Asia, LULCC has been driven by complex interplay socio-economic, political, environmental factors. This review provides comprehensive analysis historical trajectories, drivers, implications Uzbekistan. Through synthesis diverse data sources including remote sensing imagery, government reports, peer-reviewed literature, we trace evolution patterns over time. Agricultural expansion industrial development have reshaped cover, impacting biodiversity ecosystem services. We discuss intricate web drivers behind these changes, encompassing demographic shifts, policy alterations, economic priorities. Moreover, explore socio-economic consequences LULCC, addressing both opportunities challenges posed urbanization agricultural intensification. The interactions between climate are examined, underlining need for climate-conscious planning. Drawing on insights, emphasize importance sustainable management evidence-based formulation to mitigate negative impacts maximize benefits. underscores continued research, adaptive strategies, collaborative efforts address evolving dynamics

Modeling Land-use and Land-cover Change

Models are used in a variety of fields, including land change science, to better understand the dynamics of systems, to develop hypotheses that can be tested empirically, and to make predictions and/or evaluate scenarios for use in assessment activities. Modeling is an important component of each of the three foci outlined in the science plan of the Land-use and -cover change (LUCC) project (Tu...

Land cover land use mapping and change detection analysis using geographic information system and remote sensing

Land cover/land use categories are relevant components in land management. Understanding how land cover/land use change over time is necessary to assess the consequences of humans and natural stressors on the earth’s environment and resources. The aim of the study was to map and monitor the spatial and temporal change in land cover/land use for the periods of 1977, 1991 and 2016 and to predict ...

Potential climate forcing of land use and land cover change

Pressure on land resources is expected to increase as global population continues to climb and the world becomes more affluent, swelling the demand for food. Changing climate may exert additional pressures on natural lands as present-day productive regions may shift, or soil quality may degrade, and the recent rise in demand for biofuels increases competition with edible crops for arable land. ...

Remote Sensing Applications: Beyond Land-Use and Land-Cover Change

Remotely sensed (RS) imagery is increasingly being adopted in investigations and applications outside of traditional land-use land-cover change (LUCC) studies. This is due to the increased awareness by governments, NGOs and Industry that earth observation data provide important and useful spatial and temporal information that can be used to make better decisions, design policies and address pro...

Historical Image Registration and Land-Use Land-Cover Change Analysis

Historical aerial images are important to retain past ground surface information. The land-use land-cover change in the past can be identified using historical aerial images. Automatic historical image registration and stitching is essential because the historical image pose information was usually lost. In this study, the Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) algorithm was used for feature ...
